Jane Young
Web & Digital Development

Jane Young has been one of the UK’s largest leading independent designer boutiques since 1955. Offering a personal shopping experience for something extra special, they deal in all things luxurious and elegant. Fashion moves with the times, and a web presence that could be kept up-to-date in-house was vital, which Distraction provided in the form of an easy to use Content Management System (CMS) and e-commerce shop.

After a website redesign in 2016, the mobile website has also recently been refreshed to act as a convenient way to shop on the go, and integrated with social media so that shoppers can browse the latest trends in fashion right from their phone.

The Brief

As a company driven by high quality products and service, Jane Young needed a site that reflected this ethos. Having regular features in Vogue and Harpers magazines, they needed something exciting and worthy of their products, and as something they would be proud to include as a link on advertisements.

The Idea

Fashion moves with the times, trends are always changing, and so are the people interested in it. Therefore Jane Young needed a site that could stand the test of time, while still being modern and attractive to a wide range of audiences. Therefore, a minimalist site was the best way forward; lots of white space and areas for images allows the images to change and stay up to date, while the style of black and white will always be in fashion. The site is also occasionally altered slightly, to fit the season trends or newest fashion styles.

A combination of the modern, sans serif logo, with floral motifs and a touch of pink, helps the site stay feminine without being over the top. Florals are also a classic, attractive to women of all ages, so using this subtle décor and lots of white space allows the site to be attractive to all kinds of women of all ages.
