Negative Space in Logo Design


Negative space is one of the most powerful tools a graphic designer has at his/her command. Quite simply, negative space is the space that surrounds an object. Just as important as the object itself, negative space defines the boundary of positive space and helps bring a certain balance and equilibrium to design.

Many graphic designers are intentionally creating logos using this method, devising positive designs that cleverly carve out shapes within the surrounding space.
